Wado-Ichi-Monji by Roronoa Zoro katana

Geisha’s Blade hand forged and fully sharpened version of the Wado Ichimonji Katana, which is one of the swords of Roronoa Zoro, a character from the popular anime/manga: One Piece. This is a sword of great personal importance to Roronoa Zoro, and it was once Kuina’s and her family’s sword. It is one of the twenty one O Wazamono grade swords (One Piece world). Upon Kuina’s death, Zoro asked for it from her father. As one of the twenty one finest katanas in the One Piece world, Wado Ichimonji is a powerful blade when used by a competent swordsman. It is also quite durable, as shown when Dracule Mihawk’s Kokuto Yoru shattered two of Zoro’s swords, this is the only one that did not break at all. When used by Zoro, this sword is usually placed in his mouth for his Santoryu. When using his Ittoryu, Zoro usually uses this sword for it. It's that time again! On July 5, 2025, the Cutting Test Seminar will take place at Swords and more in Hamburg. The seminar will once again be conducted in cooperation with the Wu Dao - School for Traditional Martial Arts in Hamburg Horn. We look forward to welcoming familiar faces from previous seminars as well as new participants eager to experience cutting tests. Those who attended the 2024 seminar can take advantage of the exclusive repeat participant option and register again for only 89 euros. What's New? We have put together a new selection of weapons specifically for the seminar. For the first time, staff weapons will be included in the training. After the seminar, the used weapons will be available in our online shop at a discounted price. Seminar Content: Handling sharp swords is fascinating but requires experience and caution. Our experienced instructors, Manuel Schmidt and Mathias Lojewski, bring years of martial arts expertise in various disciplines and will provide participants with a safe introduction to cutting test training. The seminar begins with dry training using wooden weapons before progressing to cutting with European and Japanese swords. The aim is not comprehensive martial arts training but rather a focused approach to cutting with sharp blades. Born in Edoras, EowynTM suffered the early death of her parents, and was forced to look after her ailing uncle, King Theoden,TM whose health was rapidly diminishing under the increasing control of SarumanTM and Grima Wormtongue. The beautiful and strong Eowyn was trained as a Shield-maiden, and was considered to have surpassed many Rohirrim men in terms of craft and skill. Circa 750 The seax, or sax, was universal in Northern Europe. Carried and used by the Saxons, Angles, Vikings and German tribes, its use probably dates before the fall of Rome and continues on into the early Middle Ages. From small knives with 3-4 inch blades to actual swords with blades of 27-28 inches, always single-edged, the profile of the seax varied a great deal. The original version of this large knife served from camp work to cutting work, on shipboard, and for fighting if a sword or axe was not available. The lobed pommel and guard are brass, and the wood grip is studded with brass tacks, for a very secure and comfortable grip. The blade has improved distal taper, making the sword livelier and quicker. The scabbard now has a wooden core underneath the leather exterior. The grip features leather that is dimpled using a historically authentic "wet-wrap" process, during which fine cord is tightly wrapped around a wet leather grip. When it's dry, the cord is removed and the leather is left attractively indented and provides improved texture and grip. In Arbedo on June 22, 1422 the famous Milanese cavalry commander Carmagnola, along with Angelo de la Pergola, 6,000 horsemen and 4,000 footmen, attacked an army of 4,000 Swiss pikemen and halberdiers. As the battle raged on, a group of Swiss foragers wandered near the scene. Both Carmagnola and de la Pergola thought the foragers were another army and pulled back, allowing the Swiss to retire in good order. This bloody, rather inconclusive battle left a large percentage of Swiss dead, although Carmagnola's army actually lost more men. We've named this beautiful type XVIIIa war sword after that battle at Arbedo, where either side would have carried it. The effective cutting blade tapers to a sharp, deadly point. Ulfberht Sword

An old legend has it that a Nordic smith named Ulfberht developed the first all steel blade. This crucial development achieved near-mythical status among warriors, making this one of the most important swords in the study of medieval weapons. Several of these blades from slightly different time periods exist, some engraved in gratitude and reference with Ulfberht's hallowed name. Prior to the Ulfberht swords, all European swords were of the pattern welded variety. Soft iron bars were welded together with strips of steel, forged into a blade shape, then a steel edge was welded onto the sword. But, the Ulfberht sword was a quantum leap in both technology and design. Not strips, but good carbon steel blades with enough carbon content to produce excellent swords. Not only was the material better, but the design of the sword was a definite improvement. The blade tapered more sharply to the point than did previous blades. This put the balance of the sword closer to the hand, making a sword that was faster on both the stroke and recovery than previous blades. The engravings on both sides of the blade were photocopied exactly. The blade is made of high carbon steel and is beautifully balanced. The grip is wood wrapped with leather. The stout crossguard is steel, and the pommel is of the brazil nut shape that was quite popular at the time, both with Vikings and the rest of Europe. A beautiful and important sword. Englisches Falchion aus dem 15. Jahrhundert, Royal Armouries Collection

A late 15th century English infantry hanger, or falchion. The original has resided in the Royal Armouries Collection since before 1916 and its exact origin before that is unknown, but it is part of an English group of similar swords. This family of swords, sometimes known as ‘Wakefield’ hangers, often feature beaked pommels and S-shaped hand guards. Some have an additional side bar or lug on the guard, as seen in this example. (Note: the lug on the original had been damaged and is bent upward, meaning it actually pokes into the hand. The lug is properly curved downward on our reproduction.) These short swords were popular sidearms for billmen and archers during the Wars of the Roses and into the early Tudor period. Thousands of swords like this would have seen action in battles like Towton, Barnet, Tewkesbury and Bosworth. This example features a deceptively complex and challenging single edge blade, with subtle transitions of cross-section and clever hollow grinding and a fuller to make it lighter. It has a graceful hollow ground front edge and a slender but strong point, with a thick spine able to deal with the rigors of fighting armoured opponents in jacks, mail and plate. The hilt provides a good level of hand protection for the time, for soldiers who were not generally wearing gauntlets. A quick and easily maneuverable sword, designed to be efficient at cutting and slashing.This replica is crafted with a better blade than the original; the blade is hand forged by a skilled blacksmith exactly in the same manner as the original, but with superior modern 1080 high carbon steel that is fully tempered and is distally tapered for proper weight distribution.The sheath is made to replicate one of the period, with a wood body and covered with leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass chape. This short saber was introduced in 1767, preceding the French Revolution, as a replacement for heavier and cumbersome swords like the fusilier’s ēpēe. It was instantly derided for its modest dimensions and nicknamed “Briquet” (”fire lighter”) and the name stuck and became official in 1806. 14th Century Hand-and-a-Half Sword - Royal Armouries Collection

An imposingly large hand-and-a-half sword or longsword, probably of the late-14th century. The precise origin of this European sword is unknown, but from the markings it is likely to be German or possibly Italian. It found its way into the Arsenal of Alexandria either as a diplomatic gift, war booty or as a tribute object from the Kingdom of Cyprus to the Sultanate of Egypt, where it was inscribed with Arabic text. From there it made its way into at least one private collection, before subsequently being acquired by the Royal Armouries. This big knightly sword features a broad and powerful Oakeshott Type XVI blade of 38 inches. This is quite a heavy sword by the standards of the day, due to the length and breadth of the blade, but is wonderfully balanced thanks to the distal taper, long grip and large pommel. Similar swords to this can be seen extensively in late-14th and early-15th century art, including manuscripts and also knightly effigies and brasses. Such swords were popular at this time all over Europe, from England to Italy, from Portugal to Poland, and they are featured in a number of contemporary fighting treatises like Fior di Battaglia by Fiore delli Liberi (1410). They were used on foot and mounted, in armour and unarmoured, with one hand or two-handed. This example is an especially powerful cutting weapon and less specialised tothe thrust than some other longswords of the time. Our replica closely matches the original in all aspects of form, measurements and manufacture. The sheath is made with a wood body and covered with leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass chape that features ornate cut-outs and an acorn tip. At the throat, the leather extends upward and covers part of the guard at the ricasso. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts, the original can be seen in the Royal Armouries Collection, Object Number IX.915. An unusual single-edged arming sword of the mid-15th century, reputedly from the Castillon group of swords found in a nearby river and purchased by the Royal Armouries in 1984. Over 80 swords, as well as other weapons, were reputedly recovered from this one archaeological find, but this sword is without direct comparison in that group, having a distinctive hilt and very unusual single-edged blade. At first sight it looks like a regular double-edged arming sword with a central tip, but on closer inspection it has a single-edged blade, of wedge cross-section, having a false edge on the back of the blade near the tip. The blade is remarkably wide and thin, with a very acute edge geometry leading to a fine edge, sharing some physical similarities with other single-edged swords such as falchions. The crossguard quillons end in curled tips to retain an opponent’s blade, the asymmetrical grip is located towards the back edge, and the squat scent stopper pommel makes the short grip comfortable to hold. This sword could have been carried by any professional soldier of the late Hundred Years War, from a well-equipped archer to a man-at-arms or knight, or indeed as a civilian sidearm, perhaps with a buckler. Swords with comparable hilt forms are shown in art until the end of the 15th century. This sword feels very nimble, and it is deceptively light compared to its width, due to the thinness of the blade and distal taper.While it could thrust effectively against unarmored targets, it seems to be optimized for cutting, the tip being broader and the blade more flexible than a typical arming sword of the time.This replica is crafted with a better blade than the original; the blade is hand forged by an experienced, skilled blacksmith exactly in the same manner as the original, but with superior modern 1080 high carbon steel that is fully tempered and is distally tapered for proper weight distribution.The sheath is made to replicate one of the period, with a wood body and covered with leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass chape. At the throat, the leather extends upward and covers part of the guard at the ricasso.Includes a certificate of authenticity.
