Devil May Cry 5 - Dante´s Rebellions Sword - Screaming Skull Version

Rebellion is a massive sword with a heavy double-edged blade, notched on both sides near the tip. In its dormant form, the pommel is a single spike, but after awakening it splits open into several. The grip is plain, but the guard is skeletal, with a skull-design on each side leading to the rib cage from which the blade emerges; on one side of the blade, the skull is that of a human, while the other uses a horned demon's skull. Initially, the crossguard is folded in against the ribs, but it extends and the skull transform to a screaming skull once the sword is awakened by Dante's blood.In Devil May Cry 5, Rebellion received a slight redesign. The grip has a an interwoven pattern. The quillions are smaller and have a slight curve to them. The skull and quillions both have swirling patterns on them, and the skull on the "demon" side now has horns coming out of its eye sockets. The ribcage is now just a raised addition to the blade rather than surrounding it, with the blade going all the way back to the guard. This is the modern version of the hammer “Mjölnir” of the Norse god “Thor” known from several myths and movies. In Norse mythology Thor or Donar is the God of Clouds, Thunder and Fertility and like all other Aesir he died during the Ragnarök. Only Odin stood above him and more feared. He was the son of the Aesir Odin and the human Jörd and therefore the blood of Asgard and Midgard flows through him. Thor’s realm in Asgard is called Thrudvangr. There he lived with his wife Sif in the biggest palace of Asgard, “Bilskirnir”. Thor’s most famous weapon was his divine hammer “Mjölnir” that was the source of his power. He also owned the belt “Megingjörð” that increased his power even more. His trademark though was the thunder that announced his arrival when he used his goat carried chariot. There are many legends about his heroic deeds like his first fight against the Midgard Serpent, his feud with the ice giants or how he and Loki used a trick to get his stolen hammer Mjölnir back from Trym, the giant. Like all Aesir Thor found his end during the Ragnarök, the Fate of The Gods. He fought against the Midgard Serpent and won but then he fell into its venom which eventually killed him. This is the Buster Sword from the game series “Final Fantasy”. The Buster Sword is a weapon that first appeared in Final Fantasy VII and has since appeared in several other games in the series. It is Cloud Strife's trademark weapon, and was wielded before him by Zack Fair and Angeal Hewley. The Buster Sword serves as an iconic image for Cloud and Final Fantasy VII due to its massive size and is wielded by Cloud in most of his appearances. The Buster Sword is classified as an enormous broadsword. From tip to handle, it is approximately five to six feet long, with a single-edged large blade approximately one foot wide. In Cloud's Final Fantasy VII artwork, the blade is a lighter color on the bladed edge, while the rest of the blade is dark gray, and the handguard appears to be bolted or riveted into place. There are two holes near the handguard, variably said to be Materia slots, or where Cloud clips the sword onto his back. This design of the Buster Sword is used in most spin-off appearances. This is the modern version of the hammer “Mjölnir” of the Norse god “Thor” known from several myths and movies. He was the son of the Aesir Odin and the human Jörd and therefore the blood of Asgard and Midgard flows through him. Thor’s realm in Asgard is called Thrudvangr. There he lived with his wife Sif in the biggest palace of Asgard, “Bilskirnir”. Thor’s most famous weapon was his divine hammer “Mjölnir” that was the source of his power. He also owned the belt “Megingjörð” that increased his power even more. His trademark though was the thunder that announced his arrival when he used his goat carried chariot. There are many legends about his heroic deeds like his first fight against the Midgard Serpent, his feud with the ice giants or how he and Loki used a trick to get his stolen hammer Mjölnir back from Trym, the giant. Ulfberht Sword

An old legend has it that a Nordic smith named Ulfberht developed the first all steel blade. This crucial development achieved near-mythical status among warriors, making this one of the most important swords in the study of medieval weapons. Several of these blades from slightly different time periods exist, some engraved in gratitude and reference with Ulfberht's hallowed name. Prior to the Ulfberht swords, all European swords were of the pattern welded variety. Soft iron bars were welded together with strips of steel, forged into a blade shape, then a steel edge was welded onto the sword. But, the Ulfberht sword was a quantum leap in both technology and design. Not strips, but good carbon steel blades with enough carbon content to produce excellent swords. Not only was the material better, but the design of the sword was a definite improvement. The blade tapered more sharply to the point than did previous blades. This put the balance of the sword closer to the hand, making a sword that was faster on both the stroke and recovery than previous blades. European 14th Century Arming Sword, Royal Armouries Collection

The pommel of this sword looks conventional when viewed dead-on, but turn the sword sideways and an unusual, somewhat conical shape reveals itself. The sword was reputedly found in a peat bog together with another now in Rome and is unusually well preserved. Comparable swords have been found across much of Europe. One-handed arming swords were carried as sidearms by many people at the time, often used with a shield or buckler. They can be seen used with small bucklers in the famous fencing treatise Royal Armouries Ms. I.33, as well as equipping fully armored knights in numerous manuscripts and monuments. This sword could have been carried at the beginning of the Hundred Years War, and it features several very distinctive features. The subtly shaped crossguard curves towards the blade, tapering and then swelling at the terminals, and the distinctive pommel has very particular angles and facets. The hilt sits very comfortably in the hand. The broad leaf-like straight blade is of a flattened-diamond cross-section, double-edged, with a narrow fuller to reduce mass. The width swells slightly where it meets the hilt and the gracefully curved edges finish in an acute thrusting tip. The sword is quite light for the size but has a lot of blade presence and power in the hand, being very well suited to give impressive cuts and thrusts.This replica is crafted with a better blade than the original; the blade is hand forged by an experienced, skilled blacksmith exactly in the same manner as the original, but with superior modern 1080 high carbon steel that is fully tempered and is distally tapered for proper weight distribution.The sheath is made to replicate one of the period, with a wood body and covered with leather. The Roman Army´s approach to warfare was direct and pragmatic. It chose the Gladius as its principal sidearm because it was practical and efficient and excelled in any close combat situation. The early Gladius (our version is the Maintz pattern) was wasp waisted with a long point that combined cutting power and stabbing ability in one handy weapon. Later versions (we offer you the Pompeii) were not waisted and had a shorter point but were just as effective - and easier to make. Both swords served side-by-side for many years and it was not uncommon to find 4th century legionnaires carrying the earlier model. This is the sword that conquered most of the known world. British 1796 Heavy Cavalry Saber

Used by British Lifeguards, Royal Horse Guards, Dragoon Guards and Dragoons through the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. It was directly copied from the Austrian Pallasch 1769 heavy cavalry sword. British cavalry officer John Le Marchant attentively made drawings of the weapons carried by the Austrian cavalry during the Low Countries Campaign in 1793-95, and likely was involved in the recommendation of this pattern to his superiors. Notable for its use at Salamanca and Waterloo. Technically the 1796 heavy cavalry sword is a backsword, defined as a sword with a straight blade with one cutting edge and a spine (the "back") thickened for most of its length to give added strength. In fact, this is not a delicately maneuverable sword by any stretch of the imagination, and gained favor as a bludgeoning weapon. Troops also used the guard as a knuckle duster. The blade is forged with a single broad fuller on each side. The grip is of ribbed leather. The basket guard has ears which are riveted through the tang of the blade to give the hilt and blade a very secure connection. The hilt combines a disc guard pierced with 2 semicircular and 6 oval holes, with a single knucklebow and two slim 2-inch-long (51 mm) langets (projections from the guard, which grip the throat of the scabbard) extending from the front of the guard. English or French Single-Edged Arming Sword, Royal Armouries Collection

An unusual single-edged arming sword of the mid-15th century, reputedly from the Castillon group of swords found in a nearby river and purchased by the Royal Armouries in 1984. Over 80 swords, as well as other weapons, were reputedly recovered from this one archaeological find, but this sword is without direct comparison in that group, having a distinctive hilt and very unusual single-edged blade. At first sight it looks like a regular double-edged arming sword with a central tip, but on closer inspection it has a single-edged blade, of wedge cross-section, having a false edge on the back of the blade near the tip. The blade is remarkably wide and thin, with a very acute edge geometry leading to a fine edge, sharing some physical similarities with other single-edged swords such as falchions. The crossguard quillons end in curled tips to retain an opponent’s blade, the asymmetrical grip is located towards the back edge, and the squat scent stopper pommel makes the short grip comfortable to hold. This sword could have been carried by any professional soldier of the late Hundred Years War, from a well-equipped archer to a man-at-arms or knight, or indeed as a civilian sidearm, perhaps with a buckler. Swords with comparable hilt forms are shown in art until the end of the 15th century. This sword feels very nimble, and it is deceptively light compared to its width, due to the thinness of the blade and distal taper.While it could thrust effectively against unarmored targets, it seems to be optimized for cutting, the tip being broader and the blade more flexible than a typical arming sword of the time.This replica is crafted with a better blade than the original; the blade is hand forged by an experienced, skilled blacksmith exactly in the same manner as the original, but with superior modern 1080 high carbon steel that is fully tempered and is distally tapered for proper weight distribution.The sheath is made to replicate one of the period, with a wood body and covered with leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass chape. At the throat, the leather extends upward and covers part of the guard at the ricasso.Includes a certificate of authenticity. Introducing the Signature Series by Windlass! Some of our all-time favorites, reissued by Windlass Steelcrafts® with several upgrades! The blade has improved distal taper, making the sword livelier and quicker. The scabbard now has a wooden core underneath the leather exterior. The grip features leather that is dimpled using a historically authentic "wet-wrap" process, during which fine cord is tightly wrapped around a wet leather grip. When it's dry, the cord is removed and the leather is left attractively indented and provides improved texture and grip. Despite having several names - War Sword, Great Sword, Long Sword and even Two-Hand Sword (thus causing some confusion among collectors) - the large sword was quite a popular weapon. This sword has great length giving it both reach and power. As the length increased the velocity increased substantially. However, with the addition of the long ricasso, the sword became even more formidable. The ricasso allowed the sword to be gripped past the guard, thus shortening the sword and allowing it to be used as short spear. This made a thrust more solid since the blade is held securely at two separate points. Our version of this sword is as formidable weapon as the originals. 16th Century Italian Cinquedea - Royal Armouries Collection

The cinquedea was a characteristic type of Italian broad-bladed short sword or large dagger, with this example in the Royal Armouries having a longer blade, dating to around 1500-1530. While Cinquedea were often carried as civilian sidearms, and some examples were highly decorated, this example is relatively plain and workmanlike, and could have been carried as a military sidearm by someone like an infantryman or gunner. The impressively broad blade of 26 inches has a complex transition from three down to two fullers, with a thin and distally tapered cross-section which make this a very light and fast weapon for the size. Our replica has faithfully copied all aspects of the form and statistics, the most interesting of which is the unique hilt construction. The ingenious and iconic guard design is fabricated of various components welded together, as in the original. The heel of the blade actually extends completely through the guard and is riveted to it (see photos). The blade heel and rivet heads are then ground flush with the guard and the whole assembly is polished. This method provides exceptional strength and durability. The blade also has a full profile tang, with hardwood grip scales and decorative brass filigree inlaid rivets. The sheath is made with a wood body and covered with leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass chape that features ornate cut-outs and an acorn tip. At the throat, the leather extends upward and covers part of the guard at the ricasso. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts, the original can be seen in the Royal Armouries Collection, Object Number IX.148.
