Wado-Ichi-Monji by Roronoa Zoro katana

Geisha’s Blade hand forged and fully sharpened version of the Wado Ichimonji Katana, which is one of the swords of Roronoa Zoro, a character from the popular anime/manga: One Piece. This is a sword of great personal importance to Roronoa Zoro, and it was once Kuina’s and her family’s sword. It is one of the twenty one O Wazamono grade swords (One Piece world). Upon Kuina’s death, Zoro asked for it from her father. As one of the twenty one finest katanas in the One Piece world, Wado Ichimonji is a powerful blade when used by a competent swordsman. It is also quite durable, as shown when Dracule Mihawk’s Kokuto Yoru shattered two of Zoro’s swords, this is the only one that did not break at all. When used by Zoro, this sword is usually placed in his mouth for his Santoryu. When using his Ittoryu, Zoro usually uses this sword for it. It's that time again! On July 5, 2025, the Cutting Test Seminar will take place at Swords and more in Hamburg. The seminar will once again be conducted in cooperation with the Wu Dao - School for Traditional Martial Arts in Hamburg Horn. We look forward to welcoming familiar faces from previous seminars as well as new participants eager to experience cutting tests. New German Officers Sabre

The sabre has an overall length of 100 cm. The silver sheath is made of metal and fitted with a metal ring to attach the sheath to the belt. The guard of the handle bar is decorated with oak leaves. The grip is made of black plastic, the surface is finely beaded and wrapped with three silver-plated wires throughout. The lion's head, the temple and guard are made of brass. The narrow band above the guard features a dot decoration at the top and at the bottom. Between the bands, the words "Unity - Justice - Freedom -" should be read. The blade is forged from stainless steel, hardened and tempered. It is approx. 23 mm wide, 810 mm long and slightly curved. Both sides of the blade are finely etched (pattern-welded ) with ornaments and two crossed swords in the middle of the ornament. The eyes of the lion head lights in red color. The blade has improved distal taper, making the sword livelier and quicker. The scabbard now has a wooden core underneath the leather exterior. The grip features leather that is dimpled using a historically authentic "wet-wrap" process, during which fine cord is tightly wrapped around a wet leather grip. When it's dry, the cord is removed and the leather is left attractively indented and provides improved texture and grip. Despite having several names - War Sword, Great Sword, Long Sword and even Two-Hand Sword (thus causing some confusion among collectors) - the large sword was quite a popular weapon. This sword has great length giving it both reach and power. As the length increased the velocity increased substantially. However, with the addition of the long ricasso, the sword became even more formidable. The ricasso allowed the sword to be gripped past the guard, thus shortening the sword and allowing it to be used as short spear. This made a thrust more solid since the blade is held securely at two separate points. Our version of this sword is as formidable weapon as the originals. The Sword of Roven has a high carbon steel blade tempered to a tough spring, the grip is cord-wrapped wood wrapped with brownish black leather, and the pommel and guard are steel. Two handed Danish Sword

Danish Two Handed Sword, Type XVIIIe, Medieval Sword 15th Century (1410-1500) The history of Denmark is filled with tumultuous periods of war and strife, conflicts driven by the same political and religious factors that were widespread throughout Medieval and Post-Medieval Europe. Smaller kingdoms were swallowed up by larger, and larger kingdoms splintered apart. Due to this fairly colorful history, the Danes became known for some distinctive weaponry, of which this Danish Two-Handed battle ready Sword is an example. This medieval sword is classified as an Oakeshott Type XVIIIe, a very unusual member of the Type XVIII group. These two handed danish sword are some of the few that can be safely tied to a specific region. Type XVIIIe medieval swords have been found almost exclusively in Denmark. It is believed however that some examples may actually be German or Italian in origin. The unique and defining characteristic of this type of sword is its unusual narrowed ricasso.It features a long, stiff diamond shaped blade with an extremely long handle, making it suitable for cut and thrust swordplay as many other swords were in the later 15th Century. Light and well balanced, this two handed battle ready sword has excellent cutting and thrusting abilities. Guided and balanced with the decorated globe pommel pommel, the pointed guard can be used as a weapon capable of stabbing under the gorget and helmet, effectively defeating the opponent. Designed by Major-General John Gaspard Le Marchant, the 1796 pattern light cavalry saber was based on Central and Eastern European hussar swords. As a young captain, he observed the clumsy design of the heavy, overly long 1788 Pattern swords. Le Marchant opined that the "blades of the Turks, Mamelukes, Moors, and Hungarians (were) preferable to any other." He gave the blade of this saber a pronounced curve, which made it more adept at cavalry attack methods, and designed it with a widened tip that affected the balance, but made slashes far more brutal. It was issued primarily to British light dragoons and hussars and was also used by the King's German Legion light cavalry during the Napoleonic Wars. The blade has improved distal taper, making the sword livelier and quicker. The scabbard now has a wooden core underneath the leather exterior. The grip features leather that is dimpled using a historically authentic "wet-wrap" process, during which fine cord is tightly wrapped around a wet leather grip. When it's dry, the cord is removed and the leather is left attractively indented and provides improved texture and grip. In Arbedo on June 22, 1422 the famous Milanese cavalry commander Carmagnola, along with Angelo de la Pergola, 6,000 horsemen and 4,000 footmen, attacked an army of 4,000 Swiss pikemen and halberdiers. As the battle raged on, a group of Swiss foragers wandered near the scene. Both Carmagnola and de la Pergola thought the foragers were another army and pulled back, allowing the Swiss to retire in good order. This bloody, rather inconclusive battle left a large percentage of Swiss dead, although Carmagnola's army actually lost more men. A late 15th century English infantry hanger, or falchion. The original has resided in the Royal Armouries Collection since before 1916 and its exact origin before that is unknown, but it is part of an English group of similar swords. This family of swords, sometimes known as ‘Wakefield’ hangers, often feature beaked pommels and S-shaped hand guards. Some have an additional side bar or lug on the guard, as seen in this example. (Note: the lug on the original had been damaged and is bent upward, meaning it actually pokes into the hand. The lug is properly curved downward on our reproduction.) These short swords were popular sidearms for billmen and archers during the Wars of the Roses and into the early Tudor period. Thousands of swords like this would have seen action in battles like Towton, Barnet, Tewkesbury and Bosworth. This example features a deceptively complex and challenging single edge blade, with subtle transitions of cross-section and clever hollow grinding and a fuller to make it lighter. It has a graceful hollow ground front edge and a slender but strong point, with a thick spine able to deal with the rigors of fighting armoured opponents in jacks, mail and plate. The hilt provides a good level of hand protection for the time, for soldiers who were not generally wearing gauntlets. A quick and easily maneuverable sword, designed to be efficient at cutting and slashing.This replica is crafted with a better blade than the original; the blade is hand forged by a skilled blacksmith exactly in the same manner as the original, but with superior modern 1080 high carbon steel that is fully tempered and is distally tapered for proper weight distribution.The sheath is made to replicate one of the period, with a wood body and covered with leather. British 1796 Heavy Cavalry Saber

Used by British Lifeguards, Royal Horse Guards, Dragoon Guards and Dragoons through the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. It was directly copied from the Austrian Pallasch 1769 heavy cavalry sword. British cavalry officer John Le Marchant attentively made drawings of the weapons carried by the Austrian cavalry during the Low Countries Campaign in 1793-95, and likely was involved in the recommendation of this pattern to his superiors. Notable for its use at Salamanca and Waterloo. Technically the 1796 heavy cavalry sword is a backsword, defined as a sword with a straight blade with one cutting edge and a spine (the "back") thickened for most of its length to give added strength. In fact, this is not a delicately maneuverable sword by any stretch of the imagination, and gained favor as a bludgeoning weapon. Troops also used the guard as a knuckle duster. The blade is forged with a single broad fuller on each side. The grip is of ribbed leather. The basket guard has ears which are riveted through the tang of the blade to give the hilt and blade a very secure connection. The hilt combines a disc guard pierced with 2 semicircular and 6 oval holes, with a single knucklebow and two slim 2-inch-long (51 mm) langets (projections from the guard, which grip the throat of the scabbard) extending from the front of the guard. English or French Single-Edged Arming Sword, Royal Armouries Collection

An unusual single-edged arming sword of the mid-15th century, reputedly from the Castillon group of swords found in a nearby river and purchased by the Royal Armouries in 1984. Over 80 swords, as well as other weapons, were reputedly recovered from this one archaeological find, but this sword is without direct comparison in that group, having a distinctive hilt and very unusual single-edged blade. At first sight it looks like a regular double-edged arming sword with a central tip, but on closer inspection it has a single-edged blade, of wedge cross-section, having a false edge on the back of the blade near the tip. The blade is remarkably wide and thin, with a very acute edge geometry leading to a fine edge, sharing some physical similarities with other single-edged swords such as falchions. The crossguard quillons end in curled tips to retain an opponent’s blade, the asymmetrical grip is located towards the back edge, and the squat scent stopper pommel makes the short grip comfortable to hold. This sword could have been carried by any professional soldier of the late Hundred Years War, from a well-equipped archer to a man-at-arms or knight, or indeed as a civilian sidearm, perhaps with a buckler. Swords with comparable hilt forms are shown in art until the end of the 15th century. This sword feels very nimble, and it is deceptively light compared to its width, due to the thinness of the blade and distal taper.While it could thrust effectively against unarmored targets, it seems to be optimized for cutting, the tip being broader and the blade more flexible than a typical arming sword of the time.This replica is crafted with a better blade than the original; the blade is hand forged by an experienced, skilled blacksmith exactly in the same manner as the original, but with superior modern 1080 high carbon steel that is fully tempered and is distally tapered for proper weight distribution.The sheath is made to replicate one of the period, with a wood body and covered with leather. Many modern fans of Norse culture are quick to point out that, contrary to popular belief, not all Norsemen were brutal warriors. According to many amateur and actual historians the pop culture depictions of Vikings as thugs are inaccurate, misleading, and borderline offensive. The Norse were a noble people with a culture rich in art and tradition, not bloodthirsty killers.Then there is Eric Bloodaxe.The full tale of Eric Haraldsson is a convoluted tale. Much of what we know comes from the Viking sagas composed centuries after his death, and the contemporary accounts of his life are mixed and conflicting. Even the origins of his nickname – “The Bloodaxe” are uncertain – was he named so because of his victories in Viking raids? Or due to the murders he committed against his family?Born in 885 CE, Eric was favoured son of King Harald Finehair of Norway. Which was fortunate, as Eric reportedly murdered most of his brothers during his rise to power. According to the sagas, Eric was so fearsome a warrior that by the age of 12 he was given several ships and embarked on a series of Viking raids and pirating expeditions, raiding as far away as Wales, Italy, and northern Russia. As he grew older and was marked to succeed his father the strife with his brothers reached a fever-pitch. Numerous bloody battles were fought until Eric emerged as one of the only surviving members of his family; when Harald died in 930 CE Eric succeeded him as king – for a time.By some of the reports available we can infer Eric Bloodaxe’s rule was harsh, despotic, and wildly unpopular with his nobles and his people alike. Thus, when his younger half brother Haakon (known as “Haakon the Good,” a sharp contrast with his elder brother) returned from being fostered in England there was a brief but likely memorable coup resulting in Eric fleeing to England and Haakon ascending the throne sometime in late 933, early 934 CE.Apparently impressing the English king Athelstan, Eric was granted the rule of Northumbria, a notoriously difficult area to rule. This is according to the Sagas, however – some English sources suggest this was a hostile takeover. Due to political turmoil (and possibly his legendary temper) Eric’s rule was a time of strife in the kingdom. He reigned for two separate periods (947–948 CE, 952–954 CE) before his life was ended by betrayal. In 954 CE Eric was fleeing Northumbria after his latest attempt to successfully rule fell to pieces. One of Eric’s officials and companions, a man named Osulf, reportedly conspired with the warrior Maccus, and Eric Bloodaxe was ambushed and killed in the mountains of north west England. Despite this ignoble end (and a convoluted and disputed history), Eric Bloodaxe remains one of the more popular characters from Viking lore.This latest axe by Darksword Armory is an homage to the legend and character of Eric Bloodaxe. The head is of a common variety often see in Viking artwork and surviving artifacts, with a long cutting edge and a dropped back point. The reverse of the head is a solid, chisel-shaped hammer, ensuring that regardless of which side is used to strike the axe will be devastatingly effective. The metal is blackened to reduce the dangers of rust, and the long wooden shaft is wrapped in leather strips to give it a savage, battle-worn appearance. European 14th Century Arming Sword, Royal Armouries Collection

The pommel of this sword looks conventional when viewed dead-on, but turn the sword sideways and an unusual, somewhat conical shape reveals itself. The sword was reputedly found in a peat bog together with another now in Rome and is unusually well preserved. Comparable swords have been found across much of Europe. One-handed arming swords were carried as sidearms by many people at the time, often used with a shield or buckler. They can be seen used with small bucklers in the famous fencing treatise Royal Armouries Ms. I.33, as well as equipping fully armored knights in numerous manuscripts and monuments. This sword could have been carried at the beginning of the Hundred Years War, and it features several very distinctive features. The subtly shaped crossguard curves towards the blade, tapering and then swelling at the terminals, and the distinctive pommel has very particular angles and facets. The hilt sits very comfortably in the hand. The broad leaf-like straight blade is of a flattened-diamond cross-section, double-edged, with a narrow fuller to reduce mass. The width swells slightly where it meets the hilt and the gracefully curved edges finish in an acute thrusting tip. The sword is quite light for the size but has a lot of blade presence and power in the hand, being very well suited to give impressive cuts and thrusts.This replica is crafted with a better blade than the original; the blade is hand forged by an experienced, skilled blacksmith exactly in the same manner as the original, but with superior modern 1080 high carbon steel that is fully tempered and is distally tapered for proper weight distribution.The sheath is made to replicate one of the period, with a wood body and covered with leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass chape that features ornate cut-outs and an acorn tip.
