Wado-Ichi-Monji by Roronoa Zoro katana

Geisha’s Blade hand forged and fully sharpened version of the Wado Ichimonji Katana, which is one of the swords of Roronoa Zoro, a character from the popular anime/manga: One Piece. This is a sword of great personal importance to Roronoa Zoro, and it was once Kuina’s and her family’s sword. It is one of the twenty one O Wazamono grade swords (One Piece world). Upon Kuina’s death, Zoro asked for it from her father. As one of the twenty one finest katanas in the One Piece world, Wado Ichimonji is a powerful blade when used by a competent swordsman. It is also quite durable, as shown when Dracule Mihawk’s Kokuto Yoru shattered two of Zoro’s swords, this is the only one that did not break at all. When used by Zoro, this sword is usually placed in his mouth for his Santoryu. When using his Ittoryu, Zoro usually uses this sword for it. Cutting Test Seminar - 05.07.2025 in Hamburg

It's that time again! On July 5, 2025, the Cutting Test Seminar will take place at Swords and more in Hamburg. The seminar will once again be conducted in cooperation with the Wu Dao - School for Traditional Martial Arts in Hamburg Horn. We look forward to welcoming familiar faces from previous seminars as well as new participants eager to experience cutting tests. Those who attended the 2024 seminar can take advantage of the exclusive repeat participant option and register again for only 89 euros. What's New? We have put together a new selection of weapons specifically for the seminar. For the first time, staff weapons will be included in the training. After the seminar, the used weapons will be available in our online shop at a discounted price. Seminar Content: Handling sharp swords is fascinating but requires experience and caution. Our experienced instructors, Manuel Schmidt and Mathias Lojewski, bring years of martial arts expertise in various disciplines and will provide participants with a safe introduction to cutting test training. The seminar begins with dry training using wooden weapons before progressing to cutting with European and Japanese swords. The aim is not comprehensive martial arts training but rather a focused approach to cutting with sharp blades. It is set in a future in which it is possible to get a complete immersion in virtual realities by stimulation of the central nervous system and presents the adventures of a group of teenagers in these virtual realities. The Elucidator is Kirito's primary weapon in Sword Art Online. Circa 750 The seax, or sax, was universal in Northern Europe. Carried and used by the Saxons, Angles, Vikings and German tribes, its use probably dates before the fall of Rome and continues on into the early Middle Ages. From small knives with 3-4 inch blades to actual swords with blades of 27-28 inches, always single-edged, the profile of the seax varied a great deal. The original version of this large knife served from camp work to cutting work, on shipboard, and for fighting if a sword or axe was not available. It found its way into the Arsenal of Alexandria either as a diplomatic gift, war booty or as a tribute object from the Kingdom of Cyprus to the Sultanate of Egypt, where it was inscribed with Arabic text. From there it made its way into at least one private collection, before subsequently being acquired by the Royal Armouries. This big knightly sword features a broad and powerful Oakeshott Type XVI blade of 38 inches. This is quite a heavy sword by the standards of the day, due to the length and breadth of the blade, but is wonderfully balanced thanks to the distal taper, long grip and large pommel. Similar swords to this can be seen extensively in late-14th and early-15th century art, including manuscripts and also knightly effigies and brasses. Such swords were popular at this time all over Europe, from England to Italy, from Portugal to Poland, and they are featured in a number of contemporary fighting treatises like Fior di Battaglia by Fiore delli Liberi (1410). They were used on foot and mounted, in armour and unarmoured, with one hand or two-handed. This example is an especially powerful cutting weapon and less specialised tothe thrust than some other longswords of the time. Our replica closely matches the original in all aspects of form, measurements and manufacture. The sheath is made with a wood body and covered with leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass chape that features ornate cut-outs and an acorn tip. At the throat, the leather extends upward and covers part of the guard at the ricasso. English or French Single-Edged Arming Sword, Royal Armouries Collection

An unusual single-edged arming sword of the mid-15th century, reputedly from the Castillon group of swords found in a nearby river and purchased by the Royal Armouries in 1984. Over 80 swords, as well as other weapons, were reputedly recovered from this one archaeological find, but this sword is without direct comparison in that group, having a distinctive hilt and very unusual single-edged blade. At first sight it looks like a regular double-edged arming sword with a central tip, but on closer inspection it has a single-edged blade, of wedge cross-section, having a false edge on the back of the blade near the tip. The blade is remarkably wide and thin, with a very acute edge geometry leading to a fine edge, sharing some physical similarities with other single-edged swords such as falchions. The crossguard quillons end in curled tips to retain an opponent’s blade, the asymmetrical grip is located towards the back edge, and the squat scent stopper pommel makes the short grip comfortable to hold. This sword could have been carried by any professional soldier of the late Hundred Years War, from a well-equipped archer to a man-at-arms or knight, or indeed as a civilian sidearm, perhaps with a buckler. Swords with comparable hilt forms are shown in art until the end of the 15th century. This sword feels very nimble, and it is deceptively light compared to its width, due to the thinness of the blade and distal taper.While it could thrust effectively against unarmored targets, it seems to be optimized for cutting, the tip being broader and the blade more flexible than a typical arming sword of the time.This replica is crafted with a better blade than the original; the blade is hand forged by an experienced, skilled blacksmith exactly in the same manner as the original, but with superior modern 1080 high carbon steel that is fully tempered and is distally tapered for proper weight distribution.The sheath is made to replicate one of the period, with a wood body and covered with leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass chape. At the throat, the leather extends upward and covers part of the guard at the ricasso.Includes a certificate of authenticity. This short saber was introduced in 1767, preceding the French Revolution, as a replacement for heavier and cumbersome swords like the fusilier’s ēpēe. It was instantly derided for its modest dimensions and nicknamed “Briquet” (”fire lighter”) and the name stuck and became official in 1806. Excelling as a close-quarters and melee weapon, the slightly upswept blade could be used for slashing, but because of its length and thickness it was also an excellent stabbing weapon. The grip features leather that is dimpled using a historically authentic "wet-wrap" process, during which fine cord is tightly wrapped around a wet leather grip. In the winter of 1461, the yet uncrowned Edward IV marched a large Yorkist (the white rose of the “War Of The Roses”) army northward to attack the Lancastrian forces (the red rose) of the legitimate King Henry VI. Although they launched an attack on the Lancastrians’ strong position on an uphill slope at Towton, the Yorkist forces were aided by a blinding snow storm at their backs; the Yorkist archers were able to kill at a range that the Lancastrian arrows were unable to match. The 20,000 royalists charged downhill into their tormentors. The next six hours witnessed thousands fall in one of the bloodiest battles ever to take place on English soil. Ulfberht Sword

An old legend has it that a Nordic smith named Ulfberht developed the first all steel blade. This crucial development achieved near-mythical status among warriors, making this one of the most important swords in the study of medieval weapons. Several of these blades from slightly different time periods exist, some engraved in gratitude and reference with Ulfberht's hallowed name. Prior to the Ulfberht swords, all European swords were of the pattern welded variety. Soft iron bars were welded together with strips of steel, forged into a blade shape, then a steel edge was welded onto the sword. But, the Ulfberht sword was a quantum leap in both technology and design. Not strips, but good carbon steel blades with enough carbon content to produce excellent swords. Not only was the material better, but the design of the sword was a definite improvement. The blade tapered more sharply to the point than did previous blades. This put the balance of the sword closer to the hand, making a sword that was faster on both the stroke and recovery than previous blades. The engravings on both sides of the blade were photocopied exactly. The blade is made of high carbon steel and is beautifully balanced. The grip is wood wrapped with leather. The stout crossguard is steel, and the pommel is of the brazil nut shape that was quite popular at the time, both with Vikings and the rest of Europe. A beautiful and important sword. The sword, forged in the period between 1300-1350, was discovered opposite Temple Church, the headquarters of the Knights Templar in England. During the 14th century, the gardens of the Temple in London ran down to the river’s edge where this sword was discovered. The discovery location, coupled with the crosses in the pommel, suggests that it is a Templar knight’s sword thrown into the river when the Order of the Temple was dissolved by Edward II in 1314.The inlaid copper alloy crosses on the pommel are the same as those on the two-handed sword of Edward III at Windsor Castle. Furthermore, just below the guard, there is an inlaid mark in the form of a dagger. The same mark can be seen on Edward III’s sword. Two handed Danish Sword

Danish Two Handed Sword, Type XVIIIe, Medieval Sword 15th Century (1410-1500) The history of Denmark is filled with tumultuous periods of war and strife, conflicts driven by the same political and religious factors that were widespread throughout Medieval and Post-Medieval Europe. Smaller kingdoms were swallowed up by larger, and larger kingdoms splintered apart. Due to this fairly colorful history, the Danes became known for some distinctive weaponry, of which this Danish Two-Handed battle ready Sword is an example. This medieval sword is classified as an Oakeshott Type XVIIIe, a very unusual member of the Type XVIII group. These two handed danish sword are some of the few that can be safely tied to a specific region. Type XVIIIe medieval swords have been found almost exclusively in Denmark. It is believed however that some examples may actually be German or Italian in origin. The unique and defining characteristic of this type of sword is its unusual narrowed ricasso.It features a long, stiff diamond shaped blade with an extremely long handle, making it suitable for cut and thrust swordplay as many other swords were in the later 15th Century. Light and well balanced, this two handed battle ready sword has excellent cutting and thrusting abilities. Guided and balanced with the decorated globe pommel pommel, the pointed guard can be used as a weapon capable of stabbing under the gorget and helmet, effectively defeating the opponent. British 1796 Pattern Light Cavalry Saber

Designed by Major-General John Gaspard Le Marchant, the 1796 pattern light cavalry saber was based on Central and Eastern European hussar swords. As a young captain, he observed the clumsy design of the heavy, overly long 1788 Pattern swords. Le Marchant opined that the "blades of the Turks, Mamelukes, Moors, and Hungarians (were) preferable to any other." He gave the blade of this saber a pronounced curve, which made it more adept at cavalry attack methods, and designed it with a widened tip that affected the balance, but made slashes far more brutal. It was issued primarily to British light dragoons and hussars and was also used by the King's German Legion light cavalry during the Napoleonic Wars. The blade profile became so popular that the Prussians and other German states emulated its design throughout the 19th century.This exact replica of an original antique weighs only 1 lb, 12 oz, and the blade features an extreme distal taper, enabling it to feel exceptionally lively. A full 5/8" thick at the hilt, and tapers to a super thin 1/64", 1" from the tip. A late 15th century English infantry hanger, or falchion. The original has resided in the Royal Armouries Collection since before 1916 and its exact origin before that is unknown, but it is part of an English group of similar swords. This family of swords, sometimes known as ‘Wakefield’ hangers, often feature beaked pommels and S-shaped hand guards. Some have an additional side bar or lug on the guard, as seen in this example. (Note: the lug on the original had been damaged and is bent upward, meaning it actually pokes into the hand. The lug is properly curved downward on our reproduction.) These short swords were popular sidearms for billmen and archers during the Wars of the Roses and into the early Tudor period. Thousands of swords like this would have seen action in battles like Towton, Barnet, Tewkesbury and Bosworth. This example features a deceptively complex and challenging single edge blade, with subtle transitions of cross-section and clever hollow grinding and a fuller to make it lighter. It has a graceful hollow ground front edge and a slender but strong point, with a thick spine able to deal with the rigors of fighting armoured opponents in jacks, mail and plate. The hilt provides a good level of hand protection for the time, for soldiers who were not generally wearing gauntlets. A quick and easily maneuverable sword, designed to be efficient at cutting and slashing.This replica is crafted with a better blade than the original; the blade is hand forged by a skilled blacksmith exactly in the same manner as the original, but with superior modern 1080 high carbon steel that is fully tempered and is distally tapered for proper weight distribution.The sheath is made to replicate one of the period, with a wood body and covered with leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass chape. At the throat, the leather extends upward and covers part of the guard at the ricasso.Includes a certificate of authenticity on heavy stock.Windlass Classic Wax and polishing cloth are included. British 1796 Heavy Cavalry Saber

Used by British Lifeguards, Royal Horse Guards, Dragoon Guards and Dragoons through the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. It was directly copied from the Austrian Pallasch 1769 heavy cavalry sword. British cavalry officer John Le Marchant attentively made drawings of the weapons carried by the Austrian cavalry during the Low Countries Campaign in 1793-95, and likely was involved in the recommendation of this pattern to his superiors. Notable for its use at Salamanca and Waterloo. Technically the 1796 heavy cavalry sword is a backsword, defined as a sword with a straight blade with one cutting edge and a spine (the "back") thickened for most of its length to give added strength. In fact, this is not a delicately maneuverable sword by any stretch of the imagination, and gained favor as a bludgeoning weapon. Troops also used the guard as a knuckle duster. The blade is forged with a single broad fuller on each side. The grip is of ribbed leather. The basket guard has ears which are riveted through the tang of the blade to give the hilt and blade a very secure connection. The hilt combines a disc guard pierced with 2 semicircular and 6 oval holes, with a single knucklebow and two slim 2-inch-long (51 mm) langets (projections from the guard, which grip the throat of the scabbard) extending from the front of the guard. Arrives sharpened and includes steel scabbard.
