It's time again for a new cutting test seminar in Hamburg!
A cutting test seminar is planned at Swords and more in Hamburg on July 13, 2024. The seminar is held at and in cooperation with
Wu Dao - School of traditional martial arts
in Hamburg Horn.
We would be happy to see one or two participants from the first seminars again. For the new seminar we will be purchasing completely new weapons and incorporating many interesting extras.
The idea for this seminar arose from the large number of hand-forged swords of various types that Swords and more has in its program.
Handling sharp swords is very interesting, but also requires a certain amount of experience and caution. The instructors Manuel Schmidt and Mathias Lojewski have acquired both during years of martial arts training in various areas and will therefore give the participants of this seminar a basic introduction to using sharp swords.
Training begins with wooden swords. Later, during the course of the seminar, cutting will be done with European and Japanese swords. This seminar does not claim to be a holistic martial arts training, but rather should be seen as a focus on a very interesting subject area.
The seminar is primarily aimed at beginners in handling the sword, but we also welcome “old hands” as participants in order to make the exchange of experiences even more intensive for everyone involved.
First, Tatami Omote of simple quality and then Tatami Omote of high quality are cut. You can read about the differences in advance in the item description of the Tatami Omote #11238 and #11424.

Cut with sharp swords
Max. 20 participants, reserve early to secure a place!
Duration: around 4-5 hours, depending on the number of participants and the necessary dry training before the cutting test.
Please bring simple clothing that allows you to move easily. We will provide the participants with swords, stands and a number of already soaked Tatami Omote. You are also welcome to bring your own swords. However, we reserve the right to examine these first to determine whether a cutting test is safe with these swords.
