The blades are forged in 5160 high carbon steel and specially heat treated to produce very high resilience and greater tolerance of misdirected cuts than a conventional differentially tempered blade.
The edge geometry is configured to facilitate the cutting of both soft and semi-hard materials without chipping, allowing the cutter a wide choice of targets.

I have this exact wakizashi, but have bought it from a different shop. Let's make one thing clear first, this is my personal opinion and experience. The sword is of good quality and the materials a quite good as well. However, the style of completely flat blade is very different from what you're usually using in test cutting and I really, really don't like this kind of blade. It is very hard for me to get used to it, and even harder to like it. I have bought United Cutlery Honshu Black Damascus Wakizashi [86597], and I must say I like that one much, much better. I prefer the weight, shape and design of Honshu more. Again, this is my personal experience. The blade itself is well made, good quality for price and it came very sharp.
